Show If OBITUARIES ) I - ,,,,,, I Lucille Gifford Evans HATCH Funeral services for Lucille Gifford Evans, age 75, who died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1993 in St. George, Utah, were held Mon., Dec. 6, 1993 in the Hatch LDS Chapel. She was born Nov. 7, 1918 in Springdale, Utah to Samuel Kendall and Althcra Gifford Gifford. She married Samuel Osbom Evans on Mar. 11, 1939 in the St. George LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1982. She grew up in Springdale, graduating from Hurricane High . School. After her marriage to 1 Samuel, they lived in southern Utah, primarily in Hatch. In Hatch they owned and operated Evans Mercantile until 1962. Later they opened up a drive-up restaurant and operated it until they retired. Finally, Fi-nally, in 1984, she moved to Lo-gandalc, Lo-gandalc, Nev. to be close to family. She was always very active in the LDS church, serving in many different dif-ferent capacities. Lucille loved to ride bicycles, from their dating years riding down the switchbacks of Zion National Park with no hands, right up until the age of seventy-three. She loved music, playing play-ing the accordion and starting the family band, "The Evans Bucka-roos." Bucka-roos." She was a great cook and loved horses. Survivors include four sons and one daughter: Gary and wife Beverly, Bev-erly, Kirk and wife Gloria and Vaughn and wife Dawn, all of Lo-gandale, Lo-gandale, Nev.; Greg and wife Sandra of Klamath Falls, Ore.; Sandra Bronson, St. George, Utah; 33 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: Gerald and wife Aleath, Hurricane, Utah; Avard and wife Ruth of Salt Lake City, Utah and Mrs. Hugh (Alcatha) Cannon, Rivcrton, Utah. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Afton and a sister, Ra-mona. Ra-mona. Interment was in the Hatch Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, St. George. |
