Two Area Drill Teams Capture Wins At Utah Classic Held In Heber City Two area drill teams, the Bryce Valley High School Brycettes and the Escalante Moquettes, traveled to the Utah Classic Drill Team Compeu'tion held in Heber City on Saturday, Dec. 4, 1993. Drill teams from across the state in 1A-5A classes competed against one another in the day long event. The Brycettes, with a complement of 22 girls, emerged with the top honor of Overall Best in 1 A, accumulating accu-mulating the highest total points and taking home first place awards in both the Dance and Military categories. cat-egories. Of five slots open in 1A Drill Down competition, three of the BVHS unit were selected to com- 4 pete. They were Michon Ott, Mandy Seiler and Becca Johnson. Quite an honor and distinction. Drill Team Advisors Cherish Syrett and Barbie LeFevre accompanied accom-panied the girls and acknowledged that the early season competition and win was "most gratifying and encouraging." They felt "well rewarded" re-warded" for the grueling hours of practice and repetition so far this season. Members of the Escalante Mo-queues Mo-queues also made the trek to the competition and likewise felt the experience well worth the effort. As rising competitors in drill team competition, they captured both a 3rd place in Military and a 4th place in Dance and face an exciting season ahead. |
