Show By Mamie Talbot The alfalfa is blooming and the crop duster starts flying at 6 a.m. Promptly at 10:30 the wind comes in with a swoop and folks begin to sputter. Winter wood hauling has begun and by mid July we might be carrying it in from under the snow. Don't laugh-it has happened before . in the valley. Many early and late walkers carry plastic bags to pick up litter during their walks. This is appreciated appreci-ated by the city beautification committee, tourists who love to stroll in the fresh air, and most citizens in general. To those who do the littering, "Shame, Shame!" The Vee Bruhns and LaRene LeFevre Bradshaw were here for the funeral of Kay Shakespeare. Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of Kay's family. Jared and David Frandsen, sons of the Dan Frandsens, received their Duty to God cub scout awards. Larry Barney had surgery. The local scouts took a trip down the narrows in Zion National Park over the weekend. Bob and Grace Benfield went north to see their new granddaughter, granddaugh-ter, born to Joseph and Pat Mclnelly Betar in Brigham City. Kent and Phyllis Mclnelly are the other grandparents. Phyllis had previously gone up to help with the new baby's two brothers. The Benfields have just returned from their thrice-yearly trip to New York and Connecticut where they take turns caring for Bob's 99-year 99-year old father, Edward Benfield. Zane Houston has had grandchildren, grand-children, kids of Joe Houston, here off and on for a month. The Lamond Davises, Cedar City, visited with Gai Wilcock on their way to Cannonville to take Melda Davis to Ogden to an aunt's 80th birthday party. Ralph and Sheri Wilcock went to Las Vegas, Nev. to celebrate Ralph's birthday. Gai Wilcock, Carrie Hatch, Tony Hatch arid Cody Hatch went to Salt Lake City to pick up Claud Barney Hatch who was returning from military duty in Korea. He will be here for a month before the family moves to Colorado. The Keith Tacys are here for the summer. They own the former Ru-lon Ru-lon Veater home and are putting in a sprinkler system and adding to the attractive rock work landscaping landscap-ing in their front yard. Mamie Talbot got word of the birth of a grandson. Parents are Richard and Marilyn Talbot, Orem. The infant had to remain in the hospital for several days due to pneumonia. Five sisters could hardly wait until he and Mommy came home. . Other news for Mamie Talbot was that her son, Lyle Talbot, was released as bishop of his LDS ward, over which he had presided for five years. Lyle and Kathy celebrated his release by accompanying 75 youth from their ward to the narrows nar-rows at Zion NP.The new house of Clarence and Hazel Cameron is going go-ing up quite fast. The new sidewalks in the city street project have reached the library li-brary steps. Dust from the project and the wind have made quite a combination. Donna Osborn took son Nathan Osborn to Cedar City to leave for four months of military training. Max and Pat Proctor and Robert Proctor stopped at the Tom Proctors' on their way from Las . Vegas to Provo where Robert will enter the LDS Missionary Training Center. He will serve in the Minneapolis Min-neapolis area. The Kim Proctors, Heber City, came down to fish at Posy Lake and spent time with Tom and Ramona Proctor. June Owens went to Salt Lake City to the wedding of a grandson, son of Karen Henrie and the late Boyd Henrie. Rea Dodds had her daughter Shirley Swapp, Cedar City, visiting her. Workers sustained in the LDS Third Ward were Ray and Caryl Englestead, Sunday school; Bob Yardley, Blazer scout leader; Russell Rus-sell Bulkley, scout master; and Bruce Dalton, young men's president. presi-dent. Ruth Henrie celebrated her 86th birthday recently. She also sustained sus-tained injuries when she fell down her basement steps. Gerald and Marilyn Veater's grandson, Brandon Bartholomew, is leaving soon for his LDS mission to Alaska. David Henrie, Skip Houston and Burke Fullmer are leaving for military mil-itary training. Winona Sevy went to Phoenix to be with her son, Richard Davis who had a heart attack. at-tack. He is improving now. Mary Lou Bruhn and Beth Hurst have recently visited in town. The Panguitch Lake LDS Branch has begun for the summer. |
