Show High Court Upholds Poteet Conviction Garfield County Attorney Patrick Nolan stated that a decision was made by the Utah Supreme Court early this month confirming the conviction of Jake Poteet. Poteet had been convicted of aggravated assault and of bail jumping in two separate trials. He had appealed both convictions. The Utah high court uphe!J the juries' decisions in both cases. Both trials were held in the Sixth District Court under Judge Don V. Tibbs Poteet was sentenced to Utah State Prison for from zero to five yearspneach .count, with the sentences running concurrently. He was released on parole in the spring of this year after having served approximately one year of his sentence. He was ordered to report to a Washington state facility and, when he failed to do so, a warrant was issued for his arrest. The warrant is still outstanding. |
