Show Federal Funding ' For HEAT Program Approximately $3.8 millilon Federal funding is still available in Utah, and Garfield County for assistance with residential utility bills according to Home Energy Assistance Target (H.E.A.T.) Program officials. Purpose of the H.E.A.T. program is to assist low-income households with the rising costs of home energy. Renters and homeowners may apply for one-time payment during each program year. The current H.E.A.T. Program runs from November 1983 April 1984 and has served over 30,000 Utah households to date. Eligibility for H.E.A.T. payments is determined by household size and annual household income. The . amount of benefit is based on the type of fuel used for heating and the location of the residence in the state. ' Applicants should bring Social Security cards and income verification for all household members age 18 and older as well as current utility bills. Individuals interested in applying for the H.E.A.T. Program should contact their local Social Services ' office.
