Show Local Runner Qualifies For NCAA By John Yardley ESCALANTE Brian Griffin of Escalante qualified last weekend for the NCAA Indoor Track Championships. Griffin, a former state champ, ran the 800 meters in 1 : 50.61 in the Idaho Mini Dome to gain the chance to represent the Utah State Aggies in the prestigious event scheduled for Saturday in Syracuse, New York. Griffin's time is the second fastest ever at Utah State University, second only to world class runner Mark Enyart. He has led the Aggie team in points scored during the indoor season while running the 800 and a leg on the mile relay team. As the leading point scorer, Griffin will receive a large trophy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Griffin, Escalante. |
