Show Escalante Native Wins Scout Award ESCALANTE - Mr. and Mrs. Chase Shurtz learned that thir daughter, Annette Shurtz McCool, has been presented the Silver Beaver Award upon the nomination of the Orange County, Calif, council and with the approval of the National Court of Honor of the Boy Scouts of America. The Silver Beaver is the highest honor which can be bestowed upon a volunteer scouter within the council Annette Shurtz McCool jurisdiction. McColl received the award for distinguished service to youth which has been exemplified by tutoring at the local elementary school, volunteering with the American Youth Soccer Organization, serving as licensed foster parents, involvement with the LDS Church of which she is a member. All this in addition to assuming the leadership for the council-wide pow wow for 800 Cub Scout leaders, being selected as a staff member for Cub Leader Regional Woodbadge, activity as an assistant council commissioner, instructing at the National Cub Scout Day Camp Schools and directing day camps with Orange County. She received her education at Escalante High School, University of Utah and University of California at Irvine. She and her husband, Michael are the parents of four sons: Alexander, Mark-David, Robert and Steven. |
