Show Kingston Man Gets Top Scouting Honor CIRCLEVILLE - Introduced as "Mr. Cub Scouting in the Panguitch District", Len Mills of Kingston was awarded the Panguitch Scout District's highest award at the annual recognition dinner in Cir-cleville. Some 240 scouts, parents and adult scouters turned out to honor Mills and other scouters for the service they render scouting in the Panguitch District. Mill serves as program chairman of Cub Scouting in the district. He received the district's Award of Merit. Second-Miler awards were presented to Mervin Barnhurst of Hatch and Bruce Heywood of Panguitch. Barnhurst is the district Exploring program chairman and Heywood serves as the Scouting coordinator in the Panguitch Third Ward. Others receiving awards were Cubber of the Year, Rita Heywood, Panguitch; Scouter of the Year, Cliff Meyer, Panguitch; Varsity Scouter of the Year, Rae Anderson, Antimony and Explorer of the Year, Bill Henderson, Circleville. Fifteen boys were also recognized for achieving Eagle rank or earning an Eagle Palm during 1982. Those from Panguitch were Jerred LeFevre, David Ipson, Nathan Brinkerhoff and Bret Christensen. Circleville Scouts honored were: David Henderson, Tim Westwood, Leslie Nay, Danny Whittaker and Eric Henderson. Marysvale's 1982 Eagles are Joe Dee Fantin, Steve Barben, Frank Cisarella and Lance Snow. roy Thompson is from Junction and Silver Palm recipient Darren Jolley lives in Antimony. William L. Blackwell, master of ceremonies, and Nordell Dalton received recognition for collecting requirements for the Wood Badge Leadership Training. Both are scoutmasters. Blackwell also serves as chairman of the Panguitch Scout District. .- |
