Show William Hooper, Panguitch High school senior, displays medal awarded to him for championship win in the unlimited weight class at last week's 1-A state wrestling meet. Panguitch Wrestler Takes State Title William Hooper became the second Panguitch High School wrestler in history to win a state championship last week in Price. The senior Bobcat grappler locked up the unlimited weight class with a fine exhibition of wrestling strength and agility. Hooper, the son of Melvin and Tyresha Hooper, Panguitch, won four times on his way to the title. Troy Josie, a freshman in the 105 class, lost out in the final match to champion Ron King of Antimony. Josie was the only wrestler all year to defeat King, the defending champion. He is the son of Bennet and Alfchild Josie, Panguitch. Three other wrestlers, Chet Hailstone, Mac Hatch and Danny Frandsen also participated in the state meet. Hometown supporters commended Coach Maloy Dodds and his assistant Bennet Josie along with the entire wrestling program for their fine showing this year. |
