Show DUIs, Thefts Keep County Officers Busy The Garfield County Sheriffs Department reported the arrest of Billy J. Dodds, 49, Richfield, February 10 at approximately 11 p.m. on Utah Highway 12 near Cannonville. Dodds was charged with DUI and taken to Garfield County jail in Panguitch. He appeared before Panguitch City Justice of the Peace Wayne Holman where he pled not guilty. Bail was set at $300. The Double D Cafe in Escalante was burglarized sometime during the night of February 11. Thieves had gained entry through a broken rear window of the building. Owners discovered the burglary upon entering the premises the following morning. The incident was Investigated by Deputy Boyd Woolsey. The Sheriff's department has offered a reward of $200 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone connected with any of the recent rash of burglaries in Escalante. The Sheriff's department reported the theft during the night from Garkane Power Association's facility in Hatch of 1,000 to 1,500 pounds of No. 4 and No. 6 uncoated copper wire. The wire was in 300 to 500-pound rolls, valued at between $500 and $700. There are no suspects. The culprits gained entry to the facility by cutting the gate open and the theft was discovered Tuesday morning by Garkane employee Mervin Barnhrust, Hatch. Clarence Maynard Thompson, 47, Las Vegas, was arrested at approximately 1 a.m. in the morning of Feb. 12 on Main Street in Panguitch by Panguitch" Police Chief Martin Nay. He was charged with DUI and incarcerated in the Garfield County jail in Panguitch. |
