Show BLM Sets Fees For Grazing Livestock operators who graze their animals on lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management will pay $1.40 per animal unit month (the amount of forage consumed by one cow in one month) during the 1983 grazing season. The new fee becomes effective March 1 and represents a reduction of 46 cents from the 1982 fee, and reflects declines in the prices livestock operators were paid for beef, as well as increases in production costs. The fee formula presently being used was incorporated in the 1978 Public Rangelands Improvement Act on a seven-year trial basis. |
