UTAH, PRESS AbfeN c,LC 'JT 1 1 Panguitch, Escalante Ready Pioneer cicm auwns Like most Utah communltes, Panguitch and Escalante are putting the last minute touches on plans for Pioneer Day activities for July 23 and 24. With Panguitch expected to be filled with visitors and former residents, a highly successful holiday is anticipated. Biggest feature of this year's homecoming is an all-class reunion for alumni of every class that ever attended Panguitch High School invited to participate. Floats for Saturday morning's parade are being constructed all over town and family groups and organizations are being encouraged to enter a float. Following the parade, the Daughters of Utah Pioneers will represent a special program at the Panguitch LDS Stake Center on schools in Panguitch from the time the city was first founded. Participants can still sign up for Saturday morning's triathlon consisting of a swim, bike race and run. A professional rodeo will be presented both Friday and Saturday evenings, with a dance following Friday night's rodeo. The talents of John Ross Hurst will liven the dance at Pangutich High School gym featuring everyone's favorite music. Saturday afternoon's activities begins with a barbecue beef dinner at Panguitch City Park with races and games for the kids. A school program will be presented in the gym on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Homecoming visitors are urged to pick up their name tags at the Old First State Bank on Main Street as they come into town. ESCALANTE Two days of outstanding activities are planned for Escalante's Pioneer Days on July 23 and 24. On Friday evening a rodeo with concessions will be held at the rodeo grounds followed by a dance featuring the Lynn Griffin band at the high school at 9 p.m. A busy day of special events will get off to an early start with a sunrise serenade set for 5 a.m. on Saturday morning. A hot scone breakfast will be served at the firchouse from 7 until 8:30 a.m. with a parade at 10 a.m. A special program at the Escalnate LDS Stake Center will follow the parade. A barbecue dinner Is set for 1230 p.m. following the program at the stake center. A fun-filled afternoon will feature soap box derby races at the church house hill followed by kids foot races at the high school ball park. To finish off the afternoon activities, a carnival with pony rides, cake walk, fish pond and, much more will be held at the high school. Saturday evening's rodeo will be followed by fireworks to top off a traditional Pioneer Day celebration in Escalante.
