All species except blue spruce may be cut for Christmas trees. The Escalante Ranger District has only small stands of blue spruce occurring along North Creek and Pine Creek. The Forest Service wants to retain these few blue spruce for esthetic, watershed, and fishery purposes. It is hoped the public will comply, enabling the whole District to be kept open to personal Christmas tree cutting rather than having only designated areas.
