Show Energy Tip From Garkane Power Association Don't Sweat It One of the secrets of keeping the kitchen and the cook cool in summer is planning ahead. Make double amounts of dishes that take a long time in cooking, such as stews, soups and casseroles. Then freeze half for future use. Plan to use your oven more. It heats the kitchen less than your surface burners. The oven uses less energy too, because its thermostatic control cuts the heat off from time to time to keep the temperature constant. Your oven is actually on about one-third of tne time you're using it. Remember, too, that foods which will be cooking for more than an hour do not need a pre-heated oven. For top-of-the-stove cooking, use pots and pans that cover the heating unit to keep heat from escaping, and cover open pots. Covered pots cook food quicker, preserve nutrients, and keep the kitchen cooler. Do as much of your cooking as you can during early morning hours. Anything that keeps your kitchen cooler will save work for your air conditioner. Probably the easiest way to better, cooler summer cooking is to usher the family outdoors to the portable grill or barbeque pit. You can more easily get your family help with the cooking in this atmosphere . . . and. everyone will enjoy it! 1 CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS g I COMMITTEE I I SOLICITS YOUR SUPPORT IN ITS I LEGAL ACTION TO PROTECT THE CIVIL RIGHTS OF MERCHANTS TO I SELL BEER IN HATCH AND OF B CITIZENS TO BUY BEER IN HATCH f B SEND CONTRIBUTIONS TO: I Q Homer Dutton, Box 491, Hatch, UT I 84735 or call 735-4225 I Harry York, Box 547, Hatch UT 84735 E or call 735-4274 I H Make Checks Payable to: I HATCH TOWN B CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS COMMITTEE M V CHARLIE'S GLASS & INSULATION All Your Glass & Insulation Needs - FREE ESTIMATES - Charlie Allen - Panguitch Call 676-8142 (After 5:00 p.m.) f $ GROCERY ITEMS skiPPy - 28 oz. creamy PRODUCE ITEMS l) Peanut ' j 4 Heads Butter $1.89 I Western Family 303 ettuce $100W IL Applesauce 69c , ..
