Show Area Obituaries Kenneth (tiffin ESCALANTE -Kenneth Griffin. 85, Escalante, died Jan. 11, 1979, in a Provo hospital. He was born Oct. 24, 1893, Escalante, to Joseph Emmerson and Emma Lovina Riggs Griffin. He married Sarah Ella Porter, Oct. 3, 1917, Manti LDS Temple. She died Dec. 9. 1978. He was a retired employee of Clearfield Naval Base. He was a livestock raiser, veteran of World War I. He moved to Clearfield in 1951 and upon retirement, moved to Provo in 1957. Survivors: sons, Kenneth j., Provo; Donald, Escalante; eight grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; brothers, Ray, Escalante; Theron, Tropic. Funeral services were Jan. 15 in the Escalante Ward chapel with Bishop Lynn Gates, officiating. Kenneth J, Griffin offered the family prayer and Areola Gates played prelude and postlude music. Theron Triffin offered the invocation. Speakers were Layne Griffin; Lorenzo Griffin and Bishop Gates. Music included selections by the Relief Society Chorus; vocal trio, Marlene Haws, Deon Albey and Geraldine Liston. Cal Porter offered the benediction. Burial was in the Escalante Cemetery by Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield with military rites. Orland Porter offered the dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were Layne Griffin, Charles Mitchell, David Dickerson, Jerald Thompson, Kenneth Hamilton and Gary Pollock. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Griffin, Lance Coleman and Kevin Richman. |
