Show Escalante Chit Chat Fay Alvey We got over a foot of new snow, you would ha ve to see the piles of the white stuff to believe it. It is serious for the stock, the feed is all covered up and the cattle can't move. Beryl Shurtz is on crutches after falling on the ice, no broken bones. Morris Shirts has been housed up for 2 weeks after falling, then Neta got flu. Lois Houston, daughter of Stanley Listen and June Van Hemert had surgery at a Salt Lake City hospital Dec. 11. Her parents were both with her. After being released she developed complications and had to be readmitted. Tennys Houston and June have been caring for her family. Lois is still hospitalized but greatly improved. Hyrum Coleman went north to his doctor, Mary Ellen accompanied him and they stayed overnight in Goshen with Clevia Swindle and family. Other family members met them there: Nora Youngdale, Alfred and Ada Heaps and Maud Spencer. Deon Alvey went to Wayne County to be with daughter, Janeen Duncan, who has health problems. Chuck and Koleen Wyne spent a weekend in Las Vegas. Lorell Munson took son Milan to California to get the family dentist, Daryl to fix up Milan's teeth in preparation for his leaving. Marie Hall had son Mack Steffensen and grandson Donald here from Salt Lake City to help her dig out from the big snow. Carolyn Cowles and daughter spent the weekend at the Orville Cowles home. The Smith Alveys had business in Cedar City and stayed overnight at the Greg Tait home. Twila Mclnelly went from Salt Lake City where she helped out at the Lynn Griffin home with their new daughter, straight to Cedar City to the Mike Searle home where a new son arrived. The Joe Bennett family has moved back into their hometostay. Joy Hartnet was here for the weekend. Glen Luellyn went to Panguitch and came home with a new car. Harvey Dean Gates and wife came from Fillmore to get a load of hay. Laura Baker had daughter Laurel and granddaughter, Teresa, here from Orem. Sunday was high council day and our speakers were Dewey Willis, Sharon Dale Marsh and Tom Sanborn. The choir sang a new number. Jerald Johnson, Theron Mitchell and Dick Lyman were home from their various jobs. Curly Hale made a weekend trip home and reports his father out of the hospital at home in Hurricane with Ruth caring for him. The Rex Masters had a visit from friends, Thelma and lwrence Bioron of Manilla. Phil and Sharon Bayles and 3 kids have moved back here into the house vacated by the Chuck Birkmeyers. they have been in Manila. The youth want to change the world, they think it quite uncouth, adults on the other hand want to change the youth. |
