Show Scholarships Allow Job-Skill Programs CEDAR CITY - Mini-scholarship recipients at Southern Utah State College can work on job skills, work on a degree, improve their self-image, or simply stretch their minds and their imaginations for the sheer joy of learning. SUSC's mini-scholarships are $25 fee waivers which can be applied to any credit or non-credit class taught on campus. The mini-grants have been established as an incentive for non-traditional students, those who want to come back to school after a significant gap in their education. "Mini - scholarship recipients can enroll in daytime classes in science, business and technology, humanities, or education, or they can take evening school classes as diversified as payroll accouting, fundamentals of speech correction, college band, automotive workshop, or quilting," says Arta Brough, SUSC career counselor. "Winter quarter recipients include students who have never formally completed high school and others who have already earned college degrees," Mrs. Brough said. "In addition, most of the recipients are 23 or older. Applications are available in the SUSC College Relations Office, Administration Building, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. Scholarship recipients can register for classes during new student registration March 19 or during evening school registration March 22. Regular daytime classes begin March 20; evening school classes being the week of March 26. Applicants don't have to supply any transcripts of grades or take any special entrance examinations to be eligible for the mini-scholarships. Any questions about the program can be directed to Mrs. Brough at 586-4411, extension 225. |
