Show Escalante Mulls New Community Progress Council A community council will possibly be organized and established in March for the benefit of residents in the Escalante area. Many community councils are all ready functioning in Utah, including those in Panguitch and Bryce Valley. In brief, community council would: be a "sounding board" for community and school problems; represent the total community (not just residents within the Escalante city limits); be non-political and work with, not in place of, existing town boards and school officials. Using the theme and theory that the community council can be the "heart of the community," volunteers will wear identifying heart badges and go to all community residences to seek council member nominees. Escalante folks are asked to be thinking of qualified individuals within their locale who: have demonstrated an interest in community and school; are good listeners and are believeable; would deal with each issue fairly and would be actively involved and share information readily. |
