Show Assembled during a short break from their duties as volunteers for the Panguitch Lions Club sponsored Mobile Screening Unit are Glen Tingey, Lowell Henrle, Alice Henrle, Esther Reaves, Winona Sevy, Karen Breinholt, June Davis and Norman Davis, Lions Club Area representatives to the Garfield County Advertising Council met in a regular meeting last week at the Bryce Canyon Pines restaurant to finalize plans on certain projects that had been undertaken by various members and listen to reports on tasks still to be accomplished. Committee chairman, Bob Benfield, said the newly designed bumper stickers are on order and will arrive soon for general disbursement in the community. Discussion of potential new members to the Ad Council was held. Jim Clark,. Cannonville, has agreed to join as well as Sam Crosby, Boulder and Nancy Bales, Tropic. An additional new member will be contacted concerning joining the group, Mohr'Christtnsen, Escalante. President. Additional volunteers not shown here were Bob Benrield, Golds Julander, Laura Julander and Dr. Stan Bezek, whose excellent planning and organization helped to make this one of the most successful clinics in recent years. Garfield Advertising Council Outlines Plans for Projects Bruce Fullmer Panguitch city manager, attended and said architect's plans for the two new proposed tourist information centers have been received. Council members jointly viewed the new drawings and proceeded with further discussion on other areas of concern over the information centers. General concensus of the group held that the exterior of new facilities be compatible with environment of area they are located in, perhaps utilizing some local rock in exterior finishing. A report was given concerning the recent photo contest held in the county and chairmen Bob Benfield and Bruce Fullmer pointed out that over 90 entries had been received by contest deadline. Judges are being selected now and winners will be announced in coming weeks in the news media. Winning entries will be placed on display in the county courthouse. Final discussion in the Ad Council meeting centered around possibility of conuctlng a "training seminar" for local employees of area businesses, The training sessions would include such areas of study as area geographies, points of interests to tourists and overall training of employees in job related skills. A committee was appointed Including Jim Blake, Gail Duckett and Nancy BAles to investigate possible resource areas for this seminar. The idea of having a local "best employee" contest was again entertained and will be lookid into following the report by the above committee. |
