Show Visitor Center Report One hundred-seventeen thousand visitors passed through the St george Information Center last year, reported Bob Benfield, chairman of the Garfield County Advertising meeting. The transient room tax indicated that this area's transient room tax made a signficant increaseduring July through September of last year. The Garfield County Color Country ad will be placed in the travel section of the Las Vegas Review Journal The property which was to have been donated bv Danny Reed was discussed. He indicated he would give only a ten-year lease. Since very costly im- provements would be needed on the property such as large amounts of fill, well, etc., the committee decided to keep the information center at its present location for one more year. The committee agreed it should attempt to buy property if it is going to invest large sums of money on an Information Center. A committee of three: Vee Henrie, Jim Thomas and Joe Hughes will investigate property available on Highway 89 and elsewhere, and come back with definite recommendations by the next meeting will beheld March 30 at Bryce Canyon Pines. |
