Show ( Campground Fee Schedule Set For Forestlaud Fees ranging from $1 to $3 will be charged at 300 campgrounds in the National Forests of the Intermountain Region this year, according to Regional Forester Vern Hamre. Approximately 327 other campgrounds in the Region can still be used without charge. Fees at some campgrounds are up $1 from last year. There will be 34 campgrounds with a $3 fee, 19 with a $1 fee, and 247 with a $2 fee. There are also 67 group reservation areas involving both camping and picnicking sites where charges are made for group or organizational use. Reservations for these areas are taken at the District Ranger headquarters No fees are charged fur individual family picnic areas, boat ramps, or visitor centers. Fees for extended use of campgrounds will be charged only at sites which offer designated tent or trailer spaces, drinking water, access roads, refuse containers, toilet facilities, campfire facilities, reasonable visitor protection, and where uniform fee collection can be assured Forest users are reminded that 65 percent of the fees collected are returned to the Forest Service for operation and maintenance of recreation facilities, 25 percent distributed to counties for public schools and roads, and 10 percent made available to the Secretary of Agriculture for construction .ml maintenance of roads and trails. |
