Show Panguitch Third Ward LDS Basketball combined mens team ages 19 and above won the regional playoff in a hard played close game of 61 to 59 against Milford Second Ward. The winners will plav in the area play-off (Editors note: The Panguitch City postmaster asked that the following be printed in the Garfield County News to help the residents of the county understand the new packing regulations and guidelines which was effective March 9 of this year.) Packaging Revised packaging regulations and new guidelines will be effective on March 9, 1978. However, Issue 119 of the Postal Service Manual, which contains these new regulations, will not be distributed until the end of March. In the interim, any questions concerning these regulations may be directed to the Postal Services Centers. Major areas of change are: 1. An easing of fiberboard box requirements. Unless otherwise specified, solid and corrugated fiberboard boxes are acceptable for easy and average loads up to the following weight limits: a. 125 pound test board up to 20 pounds b. 175 pound test board up to 40 pounds. c. 200 pound test board up to 65 pounds. d 275 pound test board up to 70 pounds. It is preferable that paper wrappers be omitted if the box itself constitutes an adequate shipping container 3. Tightening of closure and reinforcement requirements. It is recommended that pressure sensitive filament reinforced tape be used for closure and reinforcement of containers. It is preferable that twine and cord no longer be used for closure and reinforcement of containers, since they tend to hang up in mail processing equipment 4. Strengthening of marking requirements. It is mandatory that handling markings, such as DO NOT BEND, be used only when the contents are protected with stiffeners. Previously it was merely recommended that such markings be used only when the contents were protected with stiffeners. Extraneous information such as order numbers, which may be confused with ZIP Codes, are not permitted adjacent to or immediately under the last line of the address. Also, to minimize loss of address labels and envelopes attached to packages, all such labels and envelopes are to be firmly sealed to containers with no more than ' inch separation between edges of the label or envelope and the container. In addition, a series of guidelines for packaging material and methods of packaging have been developed for packages which have previously experienced relatively high damage rates: books, high density items. |
