Show School Awaits Word On Accredidation Request ESCALANTE Mike Risher, principal of Escalante High School, feels confident the school will become an accredited school following a two day examination by 13 people from the Northwest Accreditation Assn. team from the State Board of Education under the direction of Dr. Joyce Hansen. The group spent Wednesday and Thursday at the school checking the standards, food service, teaching programs, student activities and school building safety. By becoming an accredited school students can transfer from Escalante to any other high school in the State of Utah and their credits can be transferred with them. The school could have taken this step sooner, Mr. Risher said, but the over 100 hours of paper work required of the principal in filling out the 350 page question sheet and hours required of each teaching filling out similar sheets was as bigger step than one felt could be made. Following the investigation by the accreditation team, there is more paper work by Mr. Risher and the teachers, but when we receive work of acceptance, all the work and effort will have been worth it," he said. |
