Show Closer Living to Lord Stressed at Conference Family organization, genealogy and missionary work were stressed the past weekend at the quarterly Panguitch Stake IDS Conference. Kay Heywood, high councilman stated that each family is given two assignments to establish a family organization and keep meaningful and accurate family records. He stressed that in each family there should be a leading authority, and that the celestial and patriarchal law states where possible the father should be that person. He stated that each family should be involved in home organization, welfare of the family, missionary endeavers and genealogy and temple work, emphasizing family record keeping as a means to achieve these goals. Ted Jolley said that an ideal family organization will endure to eternity and will provide an atmosphere for the children to be involved in all phases of life, making the best of each person. Lyle Miller emphasized the Importance of getting a i notebook, a journal, that will last throughout all eternity in which we should write anything of importance that happens in our life, our testimonies, our hopes. "life is soon gone, all to soon our imprint of our life is lost in the sands, preserve i yours," the stressed. I President Ray Whittaker urged that all persons read the issue of the Ensign Magazine, which deals entirely on the subjects mentioned above. He said that President Spencer W. Kimball stated, "We are not playing games any longer. This is serious business. Put your hand to the plow and don't look back." Sunday, President Whittaker warned that the adversary is well trained to destroy God's children and that we should develop our mental, spiritual and physical selves. He urged the parents to teach their children of God, love them and care for them. He stressed to the youth of the church they should learn responsibility, in the home and at work and learn how to react to these responsibilities. He stressed personal hygiene and for everyone to learn to consider the needs of others. He warned that "we have not time to waste, that now the Lord has asked us to "quicken our stride," and follow the teaching of those holding the proper authority," He stressed the importance of being a good mother and father and Importance of holding family prayer and home evening lessons. Lorell Holman spoke on the importance of following the law of sacrifice in order to be completely acceptable to God. The lew of sacrifice is necessary in order to obtain the Celestial Kingdom. |
