Show Obituaries Eva G. Spencer Evn G. Spencer ESCALANTE-Eva Griffin Spencer, 70, Escalante, died March 4, 1977, in a Provo hospital following a short illness. She was born Jan. 12, 1907, Escalante, to Ernest Adelbert and Amanda Riggs Griffin. She was married to Ushur Lazell Spencer, Dec. 20, 1927, Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was active in the LDS Church auxiliaries, serving as secretary of the Escalante Stake MIA; Escalante Ward teacher and organist for the Sunday School and Primary and counselor in the Relief Society. She was a member of the Escalante Stake Relief Society board and for eight years was an ordinance worker at the St, George Temple. Survivors: husband, Escalante; son, daughter, Mrs. Garl (Patsy) Cottam, Provo; Karl F., Escalante; seven grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; brother, sisters, Ernest D., Edith, both Salt Lake City; Mrs. Courtney (Nellie) Spencer, Pocatello, Ida. Funeral services were Tuesday In the Escalante Ward chapel with Bishop Sharon Dale Marsh, officiating. Garl S. Cottam offered the family prayer and Areola Gates played prelude and postlude music. Thomas Garl Cottan offered the Invocation. Speakers were Anne Spencer, Doyle Cottam, Lorenzo Griffin, J. C, Haws and Bishop Marsh. Music Included selections by the Singing Mothers; vocal solo by Courtney Spencer and selection by Delane Griffin, Gene Griffin and Lynn Griffin. Bruce Cottam offered the benediction. Burial was In the Escalante Cemetery by Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, where Ernest Griffin offered the dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were Tom Cottam, Bruce Cottam, Layne Cottam, Stanley Cottam, John Nelson, Kent Spencer. Honorary pallbearer was Tracy Cottam. |
