Show From Australia. Editor Garland Globe: Since I wroto you in August, I have been transferred from the Queensland Confcrenco to tho Victoria Conference. I left Toowoomba, Queensland, Sept 10, going overland by rail ttf Sydney, a distance dis-tance of about G,"0 miles; had to change cars at the border lino of Queensland and New South Wales. Here tho K. It. did not have enough boxes on wheels to Bccoinmodato all the passengers and I was compelled to go into u smoking box, which was emptied and lilted several times during the ulght(nol with tobacco, but men with uew supplies of pipes and tobacco.) I got about two hours of sleep that night. Wo stopped at Now Castle one of the principal coat mining towns of Australia for one hour. From there we went to Sydney and on the 12th took boat for Melbourne. After a pleasant voyage of one and one half days and two nights, we landed safely at Melbourne a distance of 587 miles. The people of this city pride themselves on being very much like thu Americans for bustle and thrift, but if I were to be their judge I would say that they aro twenty years behind the Americans In nearly everything. Their street car system Is very poor and their suberb railway system will do for Australia. Au-stralia. People here do not care for religion. re-ligion. There Is a small branch of our church hero and wu also havo a few friends. Four Elders are laboring here aud are striving to spread the truth. There arc over 500,000 people hero. Last Tuesday was ''Cap Day" and ts observed as a general holiday. Some went to the horse races and others to ptcnic parties. Elder J. L. Lott and myself went with the saints and frlcuds to Hudlebcrg Park nnd had a pleasant time playing ball and other games and eating the picnic the sisters furnished .
