i 7 w t A SCORE MEET DEATH IN CYCLONE 1 own of loredo suffers severely from twister which strewed the streets with debris SEVERAL miraculous ESCAPES walls of sem nary completely de molls lied yet teachers escaped with bu sl injuries loredo texas A score of people were killed and at least as many more injured by a tornado which tore through this city late saturday night while the property damage Is enor there are persistent rumors of many other deaths outside of loredo all along the path of the storm much damage has been done to property the storm made its appearance from the southwest in the neighbor hood qt lampasas mexico seventy two miles from this city and it is re ported that great havoc was wrought in that locality although it Is not thought that any loss of life resulted when the storm struck the city huta occupied by the poorer classes were ahe first to be leveled to the ground but as the wind increased in force the more ally build ings were and in many cases were demolished the lightning flashed vividly and continuously add ing to the fears of the people the storm lasted abo it one hour the damage wrought at fhe loredo seminary is severe not one of the group of magnificent buildings which go to make up that institution escaped damage the barracks the primary building emeri hall and the chapel were damaged from 60 tp 75 per cent the escape from death of the teach era at present quartered in the ansti gutlon is considered miraculous as ohp walls of some of the buildings which they occupied were completely demol dished mrs eastley one of the teach ers were heroically rescued by sev eral cadet students of the institution they lowering her by a rope from q second story she was badly bruised conditions in new laredo across the klo grande river are similar it is not officially known how many dead or injured there are at that city bul it is stated there are five the mexican national hospital build ing had the root lifted from the edi flee and it will require much to edair the building for patients
