In 1914 the federal government Act passed the Smith-Levwhich established the Extension Service, which in turn is the support service provided to youths. The goal of the program is to develop the countrys most priceless resource, the youth, Sherry said. The Extension Service (4-helps boys and girls prepare for successful living in a changing world, she said. The program also provides the youths with leadership skills. The youths are taught or led in a project club by a volunteer adult or teen leaders. Sherry said. Leather craft work can range from lacing wallets to making saddles, Morris said, adding but each student must purchase their own leather. Morris is a retired school teacher of 35 years and became acquainted with through his wife Aflton, who instructs cooking and sewing programs. An interesting variation of the traditional club is the a family Creamy Crowthers, club led by Jay and Rebecca Crowther of Fruit Heights. They and their seven children make homemade ice cream each month as a family activity. However, a number of instructors agree the best thing about is the price.
