a close many happy memories lingered on Memorial Day weekend brought a flood of visitors to our small community Hugs handshakes and big smiles greeted everyone There were family reunions be they large or small in nearly every yard Sunday was a happy remembering time and Memorial Day itself began with a hearty breakfast in the park prepared by the Meadow Town Fire Dept The weather was chilly to say the least and as we journeyed to the to witness the Military cemetery Ceremony honoring Service Men who had given their lives for our country and to lovingly place beautiful flowers upon the graves of our loved ones a cold wind discouraged our usual long stay to visit and enjoy friendships Not knowing exactly who all was her I’ll list those I saw or heard of and hope I didn’t miss too many Joe and Joan Stott reported their 2 visitors as: Mrs Roger Tucker daughters and mates and 3 grandchildren Mrs Thell Stewart his 4 children with mates and 4 grand- children Racquel Stewart her with their litdaughter and tle girl (Thad was ill and could not make the trip) their son Kay his wife cousin her sister and a stopped by both going to and coming from St George Earlier their son Van had come for Mother’s Day and to help Joe on the farm for a few days At the Nolan and Della Bennett home Neal Marlene and Damon Westphal of Las Vegas were not only here for the holiday but to lend a helping hand The members of the Lon Duncan family were gathered at the old home and I was especially glad to see Bill and Stella (Duncan) Mathews from Palos Verdes California (old friends of mine) Brandy is probably the oldest distilled beverage It may have been made as early as AD100 down the old building and cleaning up her lot in general It really made her lot look so much better They were also here to spend the weekend for the Memorial Day My special thanks goes to each and every one of them After the clean up day they went to the Delta Swimming Pool for a swim which we all enjoyed and attended been staying with his mother Noreen for a couple of weeks Cars out in front of Harold and Belva Stewart’s reminded us children and grandchildren were visiting One very beautiful baby girl caught my eye Also Bill and Judy Freeman slipped in and out of town to see Ruby and go to the cemetery for a short time Members of the Edith Cox family were gathered and Molly Safford had sons Calvin and Darris and families at her home Mary Ella Peterson was pleased to have Gary and Lynette and 2 children help her enjoy the weekend Gilbert Stott was happy to have daughter Margery Horsley and granddaughter Karen here on Sunday and daughter Delane and husband Doug Stout show up for Memorial Day I’m awaiting some special news about the Stout’s son Warren which I’ll report later My neighbors the Jay Starkeys had a good group of visitors when son Brad and Maxine and family from Clinton and daughter Tamie and Ron Draper and family from Layton spent a few days The children always have such fun here Roma was kept busy between the Bird Reunion in Kanosh and having from daughter Marilyn Andengaard Riverside California and granddaughter Cymoni with her intended Brett Whatcott here for several days Brett endeared himself to Roma by doof her yard ing some sprucing-uWhen you live alone it’s so nice to have loved ones share time with you Pearl Barkdull had Lucie Bell and Brent at her place and my daughter Lori came to spend the weekend It Was good to see Laura Beckstrand home again for a while She was honored at the Senior Citizens Center on Thursday the 21st and her children let her stay on for Memorial Day before taking her back with them In that short time she managed to get another quilt finished and off the frames An amazing woman! No wonder her children almost fight over where she stays The 28th of May brought graduation and our congratulations to seniors April Averett Tiffany Burns Kristy Safford and Douglas Stott for an accomplishment To end on another happy noM the 28th also brought into this world a brand new baby girl Morgan for Russ and Mary Ann Bond Whew! Catching up on more Memorial Day have news the Harold Beckstrands been kept busy ever since then Don and Jay came home for the weekend acRichard and on the 24th Jay and companied Harold and NaDean over to Sevier County to visit cemeteries where loved ones are buried While in Richfield they enjoyed a get together with NaDean’s sister Arda and husband Sherman Turner On Memorial Day the happy news was received that son Hal and Jolynn had been blessed with a new little son and then in the afternoon a surprise visit from Vernon and Elaine Scott made the day complete Harold and “Scott” were misin South Africa sionary companions many years ago On the 27th NaDean with Carlene and Monica Beckstrand in traveled north leaving Monica Spanish Fork with her grandparents Jay and Ranae Ainge to go to Casper Wyoming where they were to see a new little cousin It was quite a fun time for Monica NaDean brought the three older children of Hal and Jolynn Melissa Christopher and Erin home to Meadow with her so the new parents could enjoy time with the new baby On the 3 1st Harold and NaDean returned the children home to West Jordan and joined with other family members in the farewell of a close friend leaving on a mission Kimberly Sommers On June 3 Harold and NaDean went to Cedar City for the retirement dinner of NaDean’s sister and husband Elva and Conrad Hatch who have been with the college for many years On the 7th all the family went north again for the blessing of Hal’s new son Eric This is a busy family! Also on the 7th here in Meadow we witnessed the blessing of two adorable babies in our Ward Dainty little Kacie Bond was given a name by her father Lynn and manly little Rusty D Jones was blessed by his father Acel To celebrate the occasion family members enjoyed each other’s company during the rest of the day We were all delighted to see Devon Hall up from St George with a lovely visitor Katherine Fawson to spend some time with his parents Gordon and Frances An exciting summer is in store for Natalie Burns She is employed as a guide on the Trail Ride at Zion’s Park She is a natural for this and has already had some very interesting experiences I was saddened to find out the terrible accident which happened near Scipio on the 30th of May involved long time friends of mine from California who were heading to Idaho Falls Sort of makes you for a wedding remember that life is really very fragile and we should use every minute in good pursuits and happy endeavors Share your smiles and tell someone you Love them! |
