Show counties band together to sell. Utah 11 Utahs economic development efforts have come a long way. More than 20 years ago the state began its efforts to diversify the economy by establishing an economic development office. Today, not only is the state actively involved in economic development, but so is just about every city, county and many private organizations. In the past, these various economic development entities have worked independently from one another occasionally calling upon the state or other entities to assist them in their efforts. Even though economic development efforts received some success through this independent system, the competitive nature of the process nationwide has made it necessary for all the economic development entities to band together to sell Utah in the most positive and united way possible. A viable part of this effort is Metro Utah, Inc. that is an organization comprised of the 11 counties surrounding the Wasatch Front region including: Salt Lake, Utah, Davis, Weber, Cache, Tooele, Summit, Rich, Box Elder, Wasatch and Morgan.
