Show MISSING HORSE LINK FOUND. Discovery of Interest to Scientists Made in California. Berkeley, Cal. A missing link in the evolution of the horse has been discovered in the miocene strata of the southern Sierra Nevada by John P. Buwalda, a graduate student of the University of California. The fossil form discovered by Buwalda Bu-walda is that of a three-toed horse of tht Merychippus type, long sought by scientists to fill the gap in the history of the horse. It is said the fossil fits precisely the description of a hypothetical hypo-thetical animal, which scientists maintained main-tained must have existed in horse history. |
