Show CLEVELAND Mrs. Marie Christensen, who died at the L. D. S. hospital on February 9th following an operation for gall stones, was born in Denmark on the 2d day of June, 1859. At the age of 16 she emigrated emi-grated to America and Utah and was married the same year to C. N. Christensen. Christ-ensen. They resided for some time in Pleasant Grove, from there they moved to Ephraim where their first four children child-ren were born. They next moved to Manti and from there to Huntington, where they resided for ten years. For the past eighteen years they have made their heme in Cleveland, with the ex-: ex-: ception of about two years Bpent at I Castle Gate. She was the mother of thirteen child- I ren, eight of whom have preceded her j to the grave; her husband also departed I this life about four years ago. The re- I maining children are Niels and Charles ! of Castle Gate, Mrs. Matilda Eriekson I of Cleveland, Win. of Kphraira and Mrs. Kate Richards of Sunnyside, also one sister, Mrs. Sena Snuff, of Sunnyside; two brothers Lewis Larson of Salt Lake and Thomas Larson of Pleasant Grove, and a nephew, Oscar Carlson, whom she raised; beside a host of friends who will mourn her departure. She was a ) woman of cheerful disposition and an ! energetic worker, she being at the time of her death stake president of the Primary, Pri-mary, presidentof the Home Economics class; and only a short time prior to her death was superintendent of religion class and teacher in the Parent class in Sunday School. For over twenty years she had followed the profession of nursing nurs-ing and obstetrics, having officiated at the birth of 446 children and had never lost a case. Funeral services were held Friday, the 12th, and the large attendance and the many floral offerings told of the high esteem in which she was held. Singing "Oh My Father," prayer by Bro. Chriss Mortensen, choir sang "Come to Me," after which consoling remarks were made by Patriarch Peter Johnson, Wm. Marshall and Sister Mary Fowler of Huntington; singing. "I Have Read of the Beautiful City," after which Erick Larson and Pres. Lar3 P. Oveson spoke in glowing terms of the life of the deceased, singing "On the R-surrection Morn:" benediction, Wm. T. Lamph. Thirty-six loaded vehicles followed the remains to their last resting place. |
