This provincial attitude should not be incorporated in our Constitution. To THE CURRENT PROHIBITION SEVERELY RESTRICTS POLITICAL FREEDOM AND REPRESENTATION. This outdated prohibition restricts the freedom of individuals to run for political office, which is a right and a privilege afforded most citizens of the United States. It constitutes a needless discrimination against business officers and employees of all kinds. THE PROHIBITION IS NOT BEING ENFORCED SISTENTLY THROUGHOUT THE STATE. it CON- This prohibition is not being totally or consistently enforced in every city, town and county in Utah. If it were being strictly followed, few people would qualify to hold local office. This should not be the intent of our Constitution. This archaic prohibition should be removed.
