The Eagles beat CNCC 1 on the and Colorado teams home court. Coach Jean Brooks said her team did relatively well but should have beat CNCC three games to zero. We were by far better skill wise, she said. In the third game we had a lapse and we got down while they got up. They 15-1- 4, 15-1- 0, Effective spikes and consistent serves just couldn't pull the College of Eastern Utah volleyball squad Into the winner's circle as they were defeated by Utah Technical College Saturday. 8-- 15-1- were really on the warpath. It took all we had to get back up for the fourth game. The Lady spikers showed an impressive performance with 31 kills to their record against CNCC. April Hatch, sophomore, tallied 12 kills in the four games Friday night with Venus Hare, sophomore, and Pam Poulos, freshman, both making seven kills each. A strong service record also aided the Eagle team as Hatch led the team with 23 of 23 serves completed. Other strong servers against CNCC were Julie Mumford, freshman, with 22 of 22 serves completed and Cheryl Birch, freshman, who com pleted 14 out of 14 serves. On Saturdays home bout against Utah Technical College, the Lady spikers couldnt get up for the game as they were 7 downed in three games, 15-- 9, and 15-- 15-- 7. Ms. Brooks said her team should have won because the UTC squad was no better than CEU. We stayed down all three games, she said. However, the Eagle spikers recorded 30 kills against UTC with Hatch tallying 11 kills, Hare with eight and Mumford with six. Serves were still consistant in Saturdays match in the CEU womens gym with Hatch completing 13 of 16 serves, Debbie Rekoutis, freshman, completing 13 of 14 serves, Mumford with nine out of 10 serves completed and Hare completing eight out of nine serves. All the teams we have played I honestly believe we could have beat. Saturday, the CEU spikers will travel to Rexburg, Idaho, in a match against Ricks College.
