Show Some More Than 20 Years 3 THE GREEN SHEET - Thursday, June 25, 1987 City Employees Are Backbone Of Team Behind Celebration MURRAY. Twenty-fiv- e city employees make up team responsible for organinzing next week's Fun Day celebration. John Mohlman, general manager of the City Power Department, is the Fun Day chairman, whose responsibly has been to oversee the planning process that culminates on July 4th in Murray park. "We have a Fun Day committee which has met each month since January to plan this whole thing, said Mohlman. The committee is made up of 25 city employees. We also have a parade committee on which six Chamber of Commerce members serve. Mohlman said each city employee on the committee has had one responsibility. Its the same responsibility theyve had for the last few years. There are some who have served on this committee for more than 20 years. Verna Payne, who works in data processing, is one such member. Because she is retiring from the city, this will be her last year on the Fun Day committee, with which she has served for 23 years. Mohlman said the first few years she was involved with the financing of the celebration. For the last five years she has been in charge of the celebrations printed program. Other Fun Day committee members include Maylen Madsen, Josie Mosher and OLD TIME SWAP MEET Mark Williams, who are in charge of the parade floats. Monica Barnekoff is helping to organize the parade, Wendell Coombs and Dean Larsen are in charge of fireworks, Lynn Turner is the parade route supervisor and Bill Crocker is responsible for preparation of the Murray park grounds. Bob Dunn, director of the Murray Boys and Girls Club, is coordinating the clubs effort to clean up after the horses in the parade. Jackie Eustance is responsible for booths and Cal Gillen is responsible for safety. Ron Roller is overseeing the sound equipment and Arnie Weidauer is overseeing electrical power. Bob Madsen is organizing the sunrise service and Maria VanDerHeyden is planning the entertainment. The games and activities are being planned by Phil Markham and Don Whetzel is overseeing the finances. JoAnn Symmes is serving as assistant to Mohlman and Lynn Pett is acting as adviser. In addition to the Fun Day Committee, the parade committee includes Vincy chairman, and Tamara DeMilt, advertising. Sue Noren has been rounding up cars and Bob Miller has been arranging for Karen dignitaries to ride in them. Williams is in charge of clowns. .
