Proceeds raised through the show will go to assist abandoned cats with food, medical assistance and finding new homes for the animals. Debbie Castellano found the cat when she wandered into the Castellano yard. The animal was full of infection. Her husband, the late Enoch Harris, whom she married March 11, 1903, (nearly 80 years ago), died in 1960. They were the parents of seven children, six of whom are still living. They are Wane Harris, Nean J. Harris, Mrs. Fred K. (Afton) Brown, Mrs. Leo P. (Bula) Casteel, all of Clearfield; Mrs. Chester (Ethel) Scoffield, Townsend, Mont, and Mrs. Eldon (Mary) Howard, Carlin, Nev. THE NEWLYWEDS lived with her parents, Jacob E. Layton and his wife, the former Mary Ann McFerson, until their little two-roohome was built at 850 S. 1000 E. As children arrived, additional rooms were constructed. All of their children were born at home. My husband farmed, Mrs. Harris said, and 1 had babies so fast I didnt have time to do much outside. I did help plant tomatoes after my husband got a tomato planter. We had 10 acres, and my husband rented another 40 acres for so long that the kids thought it was ours. AMONG HER descendants, she lists 17 and nine grandchildren, 44 WE ALWAYS had our own garden and fruit from our trees, as well as all kinds of berries. We would work ourselves to death in the summer months so we could eat during the winter. Like many other farm families, her family raised chickens, pigs and a calf or two each year and kept a milk cow. She churned her own butter and traded extra butter for groceries at a country store. Mrs. Harris still spends much of her time crocheting. During the past year, she switched from crocheting lace on pillow slips, tablecloths and othe items to trying her skill at afghans. Her efforts paid off, because she won a first place award for the first afghan she made, entered in the Davis County Fair by a daughter. Now, she has begun a third afghan, and the work proceeds swiftly on days when her arthritis doesn't bother her too much. She has also crocheted nine rag rugs in the past year.
