| Show EDITORIAL OR the third time in our history we commemorate F our great peach day festival through a special peach day edition of the news we need not say that we are proud of our efforts otherwise these special issues would never come into being they occasion considerable work and under most favorable circumstances cum stances a little worry but when our patrons and our visitors compliment us on them we feel all puffed up and are heartily glad to put out another it is a glorious thing to work for a good cause it is delightful to engage in a labor to which you can give your whole heart and soul it is a pleasure to do honor to ones own town and county and state when he feels in very deed that these are the dearest and choicest spots in gods great world we are happy in exploiting the rare unrivalled flavor of our peaches and our fruits in advertising our adventitious location and incomparable climate in disseminating information about our marvelous fields our gardens our orchards our factories our mineral resources and above all our great and grand people with their sturdy industrious habits and their temperate lives these are all things that should not be hidden but should be known to all so that whosoever will may unite with us and enjoy them we realize fully that we fall far far short in our endeavors to make a creditable report of gods bounty to us but like the painter of old we humbly bow our heads and plead forgive 0 lord that we have done no better but we shall try again with the aid of the camera we have endeavored in this issue issue to picture some of the gorgeous scenes that are present on every hand but here too is partial failure for the instrument is not yet invented that can more than suggest the beauty that lies about us to our visitors we say look about and see for yourselves the marvelous panoramas that meet your gaze in every direction those who have heretofore thought that brigham and box elder are famous only for peaches will through our county fair thatis that is now being held learn that it has only been a case of emphasis since we excel in the production of many many other things including fruits vegetables cereals animals of various sorts and descriptions miner minerals alst manufactured products and even in men to say nothing about the babies the boys and our girls for the excellencies of this edition we are indebted to many to our numerous advertisers who have made the t he work possible we extend our hearty thanks we recommend them all as being worthy of patronage and being in the fore rank of boosters boasters bo of box elder county to the writers of the several special articles of this edition we express also our 1 they too are boosters boasters bo to miss aliss ethel knudson the author of the splendid poem on peach day we express our gratitude and the thanks of all the people of box elder county who are privileged for the first time to see their great annual festival day written in rhyme we express also our appreciation to mr air A al M Al Merrill errill who 3 has borne the responsibility of getting up this magnificent edition of our paper A large portion of the reading matter was written by him and we leave our readers to judge of the meed of praise that belongs to him to the skelton publishing company we are also indebted for the artistic appearance of our paper they assisted us in the publication and they spared no pains in making the paper what it is from the mechanical ch point of view we hope this issue will please our readers as our former ones have we hope that fifty thousand people will read our ef fusions effusion sand and that they shall all become converted to the great fact that we are trying to make mak c plain i e that there is no better country under the sun than dear old sunshiny utah and that box elder county lying in the northern part the state is a little empire of itself possessing most rare rich and varied resources that she is destined to become the home of more happy prosperous people than are found today within the confines ot the entire state with these high hopes we send out our paper and we bespeak for it a hearty welcome in the homes of the people |
