| Show A mountain lion shot yesterday Aless rs edwin rey and james maycock of pleasant view in this county brou brought ht a stuffed bounin lion to ogden the two twe gentlemen named and george maycock were bouling ha aling nay bay on saturday the he t ath dinst from fro in the meadow ot of mr amos maycock which is situated about a quarter of a mile south of 0 pleasant view some distance from the utah northern railway A dog which they had with them found the lion in a bunch of willows and george went to see what the doe was alter he returned to ahe the other gentlemen white as a sheet saying it was a lion two of the men guard guarded edthe animal while the other ran to the residence for a rifle upon returning mr edward humphreys shot the beast square in ig the forehead causing death the lion measured seven feet and one inch from the tip of the nose to the end of the tail and weighed pounds it showed fight enough to make the watchers who had only a pistol to defend themselves with quite nervous until the trusted rifle was brought which soon stifled its loud roar and put an end to its life yesterday Feht erday the gentlemen brought the stuffed skin of the beast to ogden and tried to dispose of it the front paws of the lion mea measure do 5 inches across and 35 inches in circumference and had bad curved claws at least an inch in length the animal was wag shot between I 1 and 2 on saturday and late on the same evening another lion presumably tre tee mate to the one shot was seen near toe the same place dace but betit it was too dark to shoot it yesterday xester day a number aber of men set out vu tb ruin hunt it up but up to four had not succeeded in finding it ogden standard L edard july 10 |
