| Show very sad about a month ago the people of mesa arizona were called to witness one of the saddest scenes that the angel of death can leave behind him on june letb IM 1888 miss gertrude pomeroy daughter of francis M and jessie Pome roya most young lady and firm latter day saint departed this life fife under circumstances well calculated to arouse universal sympathy she was shortly to have been married and was even preparing for the happy event the young man of her choice a returned elder and at present counselor to the president of one of our stakes was OR on his way from his home in utah to claim her as his bride traveling overland by team he did not get the numerous Hump rous telegrams apprising nim him of her dangerous illness of typhoid fever judge then of his feelings when upon arriving at her home instead of the glad smile of welcome that he must have looked forward to he was informed mid the tears of a sorrowing household that soe she had been buried a w wk k al the mother and two sisters unable to control their grief without a change of scene came night before last to this cily and are now BOW staying with their relative brother solomon kimball the heartbroken heart broken lover over accompanied them as far as his home miss mias pomeroy was a graduate of the B Y academy the students of 0 6 will ever remember her for her frank openhearted generous disposition by which she won the love and esteem of 0 all her associates for ja or a year past she has acted as principal oi of the mesa district school and aad in every good word and work she was foremost the whole community feel her lose and know not where to find one to R her place this notice should have appeared a moat ago but by an oversight was missed the writer therefore to apprise her many friends in utah of her sad late fate takes this opportunity of paying a 4 humble tribute to the memory of 61 a dear friend N L N |
