| Show A TERRIBLE DEATH A fifteen months old bey drinks concentrated lye another of those heartrending heart rending cases that have been altogether too frequent in this vicinity occurred on saturday afternoon resulting in the death odthe ot the bright little son of george and E emma a everett of the sixteenth ward this city A little girl had been scrubbing the floor and in this labor had been using some concentrated lye she had used all out of the box as she supposed and had rinsed it in the tub about 2 p m sue rinsed ithe box again and rt refilling it with water placed it on an article outside of the door it had bad been there but bat a short time when parley M everett an infant not quite fifteen months old came along and took a drink from the box the small quantity of lye that had remained around the edges of the can had dissolve dand burned the poor childs mouth throat and stomach medical assistance wp summoned and as it was thought that possibly oly the deadly poison was not pr present e sent in sufficient quantity to do se serious rious injury every effort was made to con counteract interact its effects aad relieve the child of its sufferings but the terrible work had bad been accomplished and between 4 and 5 yesterday afternoon after about 20 26 hours of leaff fearful ua agony the babe relinquished its hold upon life it was born in this city april 21 1887 it is impossible to describe the terrible i grief of mr and mrs E everett at the fate of their little one the poor mother especially was fairly distracted di is tr |
