It would become the home of Ballet West which has been performing at Kingsbury Hall at the University of Utah. on Oct. 20, the Salt Lake County Commission approved a $9 million general obligation bond election to finance the center for the arts. However on Oct. 29, the Church LDS announced it would donate two acres of downtown land toward the center, reducing the project's cost by nearly $500,000. The land, located on the southwest comer of South Temple and 2nd West, would be used for parking to replace spaces lost from construction of the Music Hall-Ar- t Gallery portion of the center in the Salt Palace parking lot. Richard Eyre, executive director of the Governor's Committee on the Center for the Arts, said the donated land would provide enough space to replace virtually all lost parking. If voters approve the bond election, the county will automatically qualify for an additional $6.5 million that the Legislature earlier appropriated toward the project and another $1 million which has accured in interest. for offices :,:: y,,',.:::?'..-::-:::- ::;! 7,16 fate of center for arts k, 4,.',.'j'.1-- t l'i Ak:, : 0 ,.. :' ',:'..: ! ,,,,,, .....d- :S::::::: , ''t ,,,41:, 5. .,' :i::L-...- i 4, ' t, , .': ''.-t- - 4:: ,5, . 0 ,, '','''' .4 r,.,.. 4) ::': ,.: 'Jr,.
