Main Sale Starts Friday Oct. 17th Tongan feast honors boys first birthday Tongan first was held honoring little Larry Steven Sulunga, son of Steven and Suellen (Yates) Sulunga on Spet. 20 in the Torrance, Calif., recreation center. Some 500 guests were served a traditional Tongan feast consisting of whole roast pigs, roast beef, turkey, baked tuna, raw fish, sweet potatoes, tarro, lupula, chop suey, curry, green salad, fruit salad and Tongan pudding along with the traditional American ice cream and cake. After the feast, a Polynesian show was presented portraying the dances, songs and music of the Islands of the South Pacific.. The birthday cake was given away by layers to close family members according to Tongan tradition. Larry Yates, uncle of the guest of honor, was dressed in full Tongan costume and held his during the nephew ceremony and party. Local graduate Eagles ladies accepted as fashion student Miss Audry Athey, daughter of Dale and Barbara Nelson of Brigham City, has been accepted as a student at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles. Miss Athey, a graduate of Box Elder High school, has enrolled in the schools fashion design program and plans to begin her studies in September of this year. The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, an accredited two year college and the second largest of its kind in the nation, trains young people for careers in fashion design, fashion merchandising and interior design. A staff of professionals, recruited from every facet of the industry, brings the latest trends and developments into the classroom. Robinson of Brigham City, president of Utah Presbyterial association, traveled to Cedar City on Oct. 7 to preside over the annual fall meeting of the group, which represents Presbyterian women from throughout the state. The meeting focused on innovative methods of Bible study and worship, with the second day focusing on plans for Bicentennial programs and celebrations by church women throughout the coming year. She was accompanied by Mrs. William H. Yates, Presbyterian secretary, in attending the Cedar City meeting and they traveled with two other officers from Logan. On Monday, Oct. 13, the two officers were joined by Mrs. Charles Hickox, Brigham City UPW president, in attending an echo meeting in Salt Lake City where the workshops were repeated for women in the northern portion of the state.
