After 18 months of discussion, Mrs. Fields Cookies has agreed that signs placed in its stores during the product introduction in July of 1994 were inaccurate. The FTC did not issue any penalties against Mrs. Fields. On Aug. 3, 1994. prior to being notified by the FTC, Mrs. Fields Cookies discovered that some promotional materials contained an error and immediately notified all of its stores and instructed them to remove and destroy all incorrect materials. Mrs. Fields contracted with outside firms to conduct additional product testing to the nutritional data and provide accurate definitions of the products.
