Show Sunday. November 18, 1979. THE HERALD, Provo, Belgium University To Fete V Professor Dr. Milton E. Wads worth, professor of metallurgy and associate dean of the University of Utah College of Mines and Mineral Industries, will receive an honorary degree from the University of Liege in Belgium. The professor was recommended for the high honor by the applied sciences faculty at Liege, one of Europe's leading institutions of metallurgical study. He will be presented the award on a date to be announced. Wadsworth was advised of his selection by E H. Betts, tector at the University of Liege. "This exceptional indication of esteem will bring to you a testimony of the admiration which our department holds for you as a person, for your work, and for the service which you have rendered to science," Betts told Wadsworth. It is the latest in a series of honors given Wadsworth during the past two yean. In March he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering, becoming only the fifth Utahn so U's Distinguished Teaching Award; the James Douglas Gold Medal for distinguished contributions in nonferrous metallurgy; a Henry Krumb national lectureship; and a Distinguished Member award from the Society of Mining Engineers of the American Institute of Minino Matall, Petroleum Engineers. Ke won a Distinguished Research Award at the U in 1972. He has made two visits to China. In August of this year, he spent nearly three weeks there at the request of the Chinese government to lecture at mining and metallurgical institutes. In November 1978, he toured China as a member of a delegation of top U.S. scientitsts. Wadsworth has authored more than technical publications in metallurgy, four of which have received "best 75 paper" awards from the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers. His main areas of interest include the surface chemistry of mineral systems recognized in the organization's in both mineral dressing and extractive history. metallurgical processes. "It always looks the same in films and movies," says Sgt. Pat Dickerson, the Army recruiter in Provo. "Rockets and missiles take off in a cloud, flames roaring from the site structure, then soar on a true flight toward the intended target." Most of the time this is the way it occurs. But there has to be someone who sees to it that this is the way it will happen someone who can prevent and repair any possible malfunctions. The Army's Ballistic Missile Repair field trains soldiers in this skill.
