He was a member of the American Fork Fire Department, serving as secretary for 25 years. Mr. Birk also served on the State Law and Legislative Council and is presently a member of the Utah State Firemen's Association. He retired after 27 years with the Industrial Relag- tions Department, United States Steel Corporation. He has been recognized with numerous honors in the field of public safety.
