The victory put Coach Jim Dun-ant'knights of the gridiron in the state finals in their quest Class A k for championships. Sixkiller and Collins each passed for three touchdowns to 57-- 0 combine for a school single game record. Husky linebacker Jim Katsenes intercepted a Dennis Dummit pass midway in the fourth period and returned it 86 yards for a touchdown, but his runback was four yards short of a school record Husky placekicker Steve Wiezbowski also set a Washington record as he kicked his 33rd conversion this consecutive season. Wiezbowski also had field goals of 40 and 32 yards. Except for two touchdowns in the second period and a last minute score on a pass from Jim Nader to Randy Tyler, UCLA never was in the game. Sixkiller's three touchdown passes were for 48 yards to fullback Bo Cornell, 28 yards to Al Maurer and 46 yards to Jim Krieg. Collins passed 45 yards to Maurer twice for scores and touchdown fired a seven-yar- d strike to reserve fullback Ron Preston. Sixkiller completed 18 of 35 passes for 284 yards. Unofficially, he needs only six more yards to pass the 2,000-yar- d mark for total offense this season with one more game to play. Collins was six for 11 for 132 yards. Bruin quarterback Dummit had one of the worst days of his career as he threw four interceptions and fumbled four times. Two of those fumbles came as the Washington student section yelled in unison for him to drop the ball. In all, UCLA fumbled seven times and lost four of them. However, Dummit did pass 16 yards to Tyler for one of in the UCLA's touchdowns second period. North Carolina Romps to Win (UPI)-Half- back S.C. Armstrong gained a yard and once again Etherington ran through a big hole opened up by the bulldozer-lik- e blocking of Cannon for the touchdown. Haskell's kick for the extra point was good and Payson led 20-- 0 with 11 minutes left to play. Payson, which had used the pass sparingly in gaining their 20-- 0 lead, went to the air more often in the last quarter, but couldn't score another touchdown. Coach Durrant was asked if he was going to wait until he had a lead in the finals, be.ot e starting to pass. All he did was smile in answer to the question. A week ago against Delta, Coach Durrant had Crouch throwing right at the start and the Lions lumped off to a big and early lead. So it is a big question mark what kind of game sL ategy the Payson mentor will come up with for the title game. Richfield, like Delta a week ago, apparently realized they couldn't run against Payson's forward wall, and decided to use their air game for the mcst part. Although the Wildcats had better luck with the air attack than did the Rabbits, Payson's interceptor squadron still came up with another sterling performance and it played a key role in the Lions' victory. And once again, it was Horn, Kevin Parnett, Terry Carter and Jim Du.ant, who came up with the big tackle time after time. 5fN Give raurself a 29. the Payson defensive demons put the stopper on the Richfield 32-2- Lake, running for nearly 100 scored on plunges of one and four yards, the second one quarterback Pat coming early in the final period running and passing for and giving Georgia its gosahead 205 yards in the first two pertouchdown. iods, put the favorites in a 4 halftime lead when he led tnem The Bulldogs put the regionally televised upset on ice seven 66 yards in less than two minutes with Mickey Zofko scoring minutes later whan Jack Montgomery leaped across from a from a yard out. After the game, reporters asked Coach Durrant what he said to his charges to fire them up at halftime. "We changed a few things," Coach Durrant smileu, while accepting congratulations from the Payson backers. Said Right Thing Whatever Durrant did or said to his charges it proved to be the right thing.
