Participants included representatives from Federal agencies, committee chairpersons and members of Hill's HEPM. encourage Upcoming events for HEPM include the 6th annual Hispanic Unity and Youth Leadership Training Conference today and Friday at the David Eccles Convention Center, Ogden, and the National Image Conference, in Denver, Colo. May The council's objective is to improve government employment opportunities for Hispanic employees by providing awareness to management on issues encountered in the workplace. The council also assists Hispanics to be better prepared when competing in 0, During the conference, Tyrone Aranda, Hill's Hispanic Employment Program manager, discussed one of Hill's HEPM goals promote and stimulate interest among high school students to encourage them to stay in school and say no to drugs. To do this, the Outreach Program conducts theatrical presentations at various schools during September, October and November. The presentations promote the importance of education and dangers associated with using drugs. Anyone interested in participating in the program can contact Lorraine Vernon, Outreach Program coordinator, Ext. Affirmative action was also discussed at the conference. Aranda said that strong efforts will be made to ensure positive representation of professional environment and serves as a coordinator to external ' in agencies "and organizations exchanging information relating to HEPM concerns. Curtis flew with Detachment 14, Aerospace Rescue and doing Recovery Squadron, air and sea rescues while stationed at Hill 3 1972-197- 6, Reykjavik, Iceland. May 10: Retired Lt. Col. Bill Spencer of Bountiful, will share his Spencer experiences with the flew with the 388th Tactical Fighter F-4- E. Cranston, Wing, 469th Tactical Fighter Squadron from Korat, Thailand. He was shot down July 5, 1972 and was a prisoner of war until March 29, 1973. May 17: Don Urry, a resident of Taylorsville, will relate his experiences with He flew with the 440th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, 12th Air Force, Germany, during the Cold War days of the 1950's. May 24: Retired Lt. Col. Heber Butler of Garland, will share his expe- riences flying the Lightning. Butler saw action over Italy with the 82nd Fighter Group, 97th Fighter Squadron, while stationed in North Africa. Butler began his military career with the U.S. Air Force as a "flying sergeant." Kostelnik has served in his current position since September 1995. Replacing Kostelnik as director of plans will be Brig. Gen. Robert J. Courter Jr., commander of the 37th Training Wing at Lackland AFB, Texas. Before going to Lackland, he served as command civil engineer at AFMC headquarters from July 1992 to June 1995.
