John Kenney war-tim- 75th Medical Group The nurses and medical technicians of the 75th Medical Group will celebrate National Nursing Week May Next week, several activities are planned to honor the 54 nurses and 85 medical technicians assigned to Hill's 75th Medical Group. These individuals, who d make up of the Medical Group's staff, will be for their exceptional talents and the unique recognized contributions they make in the delivery of quality 5-- 8. one-thir- health care. The week kicks-of- f with a potluck breakfast During the week, nurses and medical technicians will attend a dinner at a local steak house and a luncheon at the hospital. The guest speaker will discuss the role of nursing personnel during Operation Desert Storm. Throughout the week nursing personnel will participate in various other activities and contests. Visible throughout the hospital, nursing personnel serve in dozens of roles to facilitate health care delivery. Nurses are assigned as clinical nurses, nurse practitioners, operating room nurses, nurse anesthetists, administrators, coordinators, education and training officers, infection control officers and patient educators. Medical technicians are assigned to outpatient specialty clinics including Pediatrics, Orthopedics, General Surgery, the Ears, Nose and Throat Clinics, Family Practice, Ambulatory Procedure Unit and Emergency Services, inpatient units, the operating room, Health and Wellness Center and various administrative areas. Most of the medical technicians assigned to the 75th MG are nationally registered emergency medical technicians or NREMTs. This n health-promotio- e skills and authotraining provides essential rizes them to work as a member of an ambulance crew. During the last year, several members of the nursing staff have been recognized as outstanding performers: Maj. Rochelle Ducharme 75th MG Field Grade Nurse of the Year and Air Force Materiel Command Health Promotions Officer of the Year Capt Karla Voy 75th MG Company Grade Nurse of the Year Ogden Air Logistics Capt Julie Reishke-Fishe- r Center Company Grade Officer of the Quarter and 75th MG Company Grade Officer of the Quarter Capt Jean Eagleton 75th MG Company Grade Officer of the Quarter Capt Billye Hutchson 75th MG Company Grade Officer of the Quarter TSgt Chester Urbati 75th Medical Group NCO of the Quarter SSgt Donita Gardner 75th Medical Group NCO of the Quarter A1C GinaWellik-Pecinovsk- y Airman Ogden-ALof the Quarter and 75th MG Airman of the Quarter Ms. Sylvia Garcia 75th MG Civilian of the Quarter Ms. Marie Zuber 75th MG Civilian of the Quarter 75th MG nursing personnel are led by Lt Col. Linda Tubbiolo, chief nurse executive and SMSgt Loretta Canada, superintendent 75th Medical Operations Squadron. Tubbiolo serves as a member of the Hospital Executive Staff and is responsible for the quality of nursing care delivered in all areas. Canada serves as the senior medical technician and is responsible for supervising training and managing all enlisted C programs. Currently there are more than 4,800 active duty nurses and 9,500 medical technicians assigned to more than 90 Air Force clinics, hospitals and medical centers world-widMedical technicians with advanced training serve as independent duty medical technicians, the sole source of medical care, at hundreds of remote sites throughout the world. All nursing personnel work under the guidance of Brig. Gen. Linda J. Stierle, director, Medical Readiness Doctrine and Planning and Nursing Services, Office of the Air Force Surgeon General, Boiling AFB, Washington D.C. CMSgt Mike Miraglia, career field manager, works with Stierle in managing enlisted nursing issues. Next week, when visiting the Medical Group, take a moment to appreciate the nursing personnel.
