Show Hilltop Times Thursday, May Spring flooding possible The Ogden City Engineering Department recently completed a comprehensive study of waterways running through or affecting Ogden City. The city engineer said that many residents may not be aware of several uncontrolled streams that flow only in the springtime. "It's the uncontrolled streams that are our biggest concern at this time," stated City Engineer Lorin Gardner. "The Ogden and Weber Rivers are being monitored daily by the state and by dam authorities controlling the rivers' flow. But, Mother Nature has complete control over the smaller canyon streams. Anyone who has property near these streams should take every precaution to protect their property." Those living near the smaller canyons or creeks, such as Jumpoff, Taylor, Waterfall Canyons and Strongs, Beus and Burch Creeks should pay particular attention to the daily water flow. A sudden decrease in flow could indicate a mud slide farther upstream. Ogden City Emergency Operations continues to monitor the flood potential and will make every effort to keep residents apprised of the situation. Sandbags are still available, free of charge, to Ogden residents preparing for the Spenase run-of- Chief of Internal Information Tours, music and a picnic will be part of the activities when Hill AFB hosts Spouse Appreciation Day May 9.
