Speaking on quality of life improvements, General O'Loughlin said, "I am interested in getting into the guts of the buildings to find out what really is needed." Noting that administrative space is hard to get, he explained, "The idea is to get the right system furniture to make the work environment a place where each employee can be an individual, and at the same time have a little quality of life. That's what my whole plan really is." General O'Loughlin related a story about a quality of life project he visited where work was in progress. "I met a guy one Saturday. He was in blue jeans, moving a dolly, sliding file cases around. I said, 'I'm sure you'll be glad when this is all over.' He replied, 'It's just a temporary inconvenience for a permanent improvement.' " Brig. Gen. David M. Cornell, AFLC's deputy chief of staff for Engineering and Services, told the group, "The bottom line is that we're doing this for the individuals out there 'in the trenches, turning the wrenches.' They are really what it's all about; this is their program and they're the ones we are most concerned about." y 5-- 7, n . j.ill.s Engineering and Services officials will identify needed improvements in the work environment at each of the ALCs, the Aerospace Guidance and Metrology Center at Newark AFS, Ohio; Wright-Patterso- n AFB; and the Military Aircraft Storage n and Disposition Center, AFB, Ariz.
